Congratulation! You contributed $34,792 in cash or cheques on this evening.  As you may see the press release below,  the benefit of the evening is estimated to exceed $245,000 accomplishing a third of our journey Inshallah . This was a  memorable evening  with a near full capacity patronage of 500 seats by a diverse multicultural Muslim population ranging from Middle Eastern to South East Asian origin coming from all corners of Sydney.  The guest of honours in attendance were:

Ms Julie Owens MP, Federal Member for Parramatta; Mr David Borger MP, State Member for Granville; Clr Paul Barber, Lord Mayor of Parramatta City Council; Clr Julia Finn, former Lord Mayor of Parramatta City Council; Clr Omar Jamal,  Parramatta City Council.

Shiekh Tawfique Chowdhury, Director, AlKauthar Institute; Sheikh Tajuddin Al-Hilali, former Mufti of Australia; Sheikh Abdus-salam Zoud,  Al Azhar Mosque, Belmore; Mr Hazem El-Masri, Bulldogs Rugby Leage Football Club.

"Al Hamdhu Lillah, the fund raising dinner for Parramtta Mosque Project held on 27th April was a great success. It was attended by many including representatives of Prime Minister of Australia and Premier of NSW, Lord Mayor of Parramatta and the famous rugby league prayer Mr. Hazem El-Masri. Speakers included Sheikh Tawfique Choudhury, Sheikh Tajuddin Hilali and Sheikh Abdus-salam Zoud. A total of $245,000 including donation, commitment and interest free loan was raised on that night giving an overall total of $745,000 (about a third of the total money required) collected so far for the Project. Still need one million dollars more to pay at the time of key hand over expected to be in August, 2008. We urge all Muslims to support further in making the Parramatta Mosque a reality." KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Sheikh Abu Yusuf Tawfique Chowdhury, Director AlKauthar Institute, Australia. Sheikh Chowdhury completed a diploma in Arabic and graduated from the College of Shariah with a rank of excellence at the Islamic University of Medina . He has travelled internationally sharing his knowledge in many countries in Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia. He has written a number of books. He appeared on ABC Asia Pacific, AlMajd Channel and the Islam Channel in the UK, where his lectures are frequently shown. more ..
